About APIBM

    APIBM was established in response to the trends toward regional economy development and the dynamic changes of the industrial and business environment. The education objectives of the department aim to give students sound academic training in order to have interdisciplinary know-how for managerial problems-solving, broad international outlook, and multi-faceted development as managers in international business, to produce graduates as professional personnel with cultural awareness for the fields of the Asia-Pacific economy and overseas investment & management. Courses of the department are concentrated in four main fields:

I. Leadership

Characters of a good leader include being open-minded, courageous, knowledgeable, insightful, humble, and persistent. To cultivate a successful leader, leadership courses consist of Introduction to the Asia-Pacific Industrial and Business Management, Small and Medium Enterprise Management, Organizational Behavior, East Asian Business Management, and Strategic Management.

II. International Outlook for Asia-Pacific Affairs

This field focuses on strategic and investment management, and business management of multi-faceted development in the Asia-Pacific region. Courses include the Theories and Policies of International Trade, A Comparison of Competitiveness between Asia-Pacific Countries, International Business Management, International Marketing Management, International Financial Management, Confucianism, and Management Philosophy.

III. Innovation

With the trend toward rapid globalization, the study of emerging science-tech policies in the Asia-Pacific region, knowledge and innovation management is emphasized in this field. Courses provided are Asia-Pacific Industrial Policies, Technology Management, R& D Management, Marketing Management, Knowledge Management, Information Technology and Competitive Strategies, Analysis of Green Materials Industry, and Nanotechnology and Applications.

IV. Management Science

Courses in this field stress on the development of industrial management technology, including Management Science Models, Operations Research, Engineering Investment Analysis, Scheduling Theory, Computer Programming, Work System Analysis, Facility Planning, Production and Supply Chain Management, Strategic Support System, Commercial Automation, Systems Analysis, and Advanced Operations Management.

    In addition, the Department provides a one-year curriculum of research project on the Asia-Pacific Industrial and Business Management for students who are required to conduct an in-depth study related to the Asia-Pacific industrial management to equip the ability of integrating management of both academic and practical fields.

   The APIBM program emphasizes on the theories and practices of business management, industrial management technology, and integration of production and marketing. Training of theories and practices is equally valued in order to fit the needs of current trends in management development and characters of the Asia-Pacific region.
